Ad of the Day – September 5 (France)

Every morning I go to adsoftheworld.com and other sites and look at 10 random ads (in any medium) from around the non-US world*. Then I post for you my Ad of the Day. Some days it will be awesome, some days it will be pretty weak. But it’s the Ad of the Day!

Today’s pick:

  • Agency: Agence H
  • Location: Paris, France
  • Client: Citroen
  • Name: “Twins”
  • Why I like it: This ad is not earth shattering, but it mixes in a couple of elements quite well: clean modern visual style, cool music, sex appeal, and single-mindedness. The last one I think is really important – Citroen could have made this ad about any of 1,000 benefits that this car must have. But they chose to convey the customizable finish, and went all in with this, no compromise. For me, it works. Well done!

    • Thanks for your comment, Annnonymous. Certainly no ad works for everyone, but on this one what I think is most worth of praise is the focus on a very specific benefit. In my mind, the notion of customization really came through – whether that’s a compelling enough benefit, that’s a different story. And could they have had stronger brand linkage? Most likely. But the message was clear, and most times that’s a lot easier said than done! Thank you for reading.
